Sea Scouts by Mary Ricks of The Columbian
Jeff Barnes who is a member of Sea Scout Ship Tsunami, received a Quartermaster Award on Feb. 23 at the Partland Yacht Club. Eight months erlier, he received an Eagle Scout Award. Sea Scouting, for youth ages 14 to 21, is a part of the Boy Scouts of America.
For his Quartermaster project, Jeff built a table to honor POW veterans of Worl War II and placed it at Merrill Gardens at Orchards Village.
Jeff graduated from Battle Ground High School in 2012 and is currently attending Clark College. His parents are Bruce and Martha Barnes.
Ship Tsunami 678 received a Cascade Pacific Council Flagship award for 2012. This is the third time they earned the award. In 2011, they earned a national flagship award.
