Since 1912, Sea Scouts has offered young people the chance to grow through adventure, responsibility, and life on the water. What began as a program within the Boy Scouts of America for youth seeking greater challenge and leadership has grown into the largest and longest-running youth boating organization in the country.
In 2005, Ship 678 — Tsunami — launched in the Cascade Pacific Council with twelve newly minted Eagle Scouts from Troop 442. What started as an ambitious vision quickly became a powerhouse of maritime excellence, leadership, and teamwork.
In 2011, Tsunami earned national recognition as the National Flagship — an honor not awarded to a Northwest Sea Scout unit since 1936. Our ship proudly continued serving in the National Flagship Fleet for three additional years, setting a standard of excellence that still guides us today.
Now, as we move forward under Scouting America, SSS Tsunami remains committed to delivering a high-quality program focused on maritime skills, leadership development, teamwork, and personal growth. Our youth don’t just learn how to sail — they learn how to lead, how to problem-solve, and how to work together toward a common goal.
If you’re a young man or woman ages 14–20 who craves adventure, challenge, and unforgettable experiences, we invite you to step aboard. Whether you’re new to boating or already experienced, there’s a place for you here.
Come see what Tsunami has to offer — you might discover more than just a love for the water. You might discover your next great adventure.
